Mixed Swiss Teams

General Information

• Held at New Windsor Community Association

• Membership of BBCBA or the EBU not required. 

• All standards of player are welcome.  A good way to try County Bridge. 

• The team must contain at least one male and one female player. 

• Cost £24 per team. 

• The Swiss format means that you will be playing teams that have a score similar to yours. It is therefore an ideal opportunity for all levels of player to sample a county event 

• All players should be seated 10 minutes before the start time.  

• Players delayed by traffic should phone 07522 015305.  

• Free tea and coffee etc. are provided.  Players should bring their own food for the short break.

• To encourage the Christmas spirit there is a free glass of wine for all players in the interval

• Being just before Christmas, traditionally has a festive feel to it, with prizes of bottles instead of the usual cash. 

• Play is expected to finish about 5 hours after the start time.

Permitted Systems and Conventions

•  Level 3 systems and conventions are allowed.

Play

• There will be 6 matches of 6 boards - 36 in all  

• There will be a 20 minute break after match 3. 

• Scoring will be in IMPs

• The target rate of play is 45 minutes. 

• The Director will take an active role in encouraging pairs who are persistently slow to speed up

• Players will be warned in advance that they will be penalised if they fail to catch up.  If necessary a board which has not been started will be removed providing it has net been played at the other table.  A board is in play if bidding has started.

Prizes  

• For each additional seven tables, or part thereof, an additional positional prize is awarded.  

• Teams are eligible for the non-expert prize if all members are ranked below Four Star Master (25,000 local points) on the day of the event. If there are fewer than three non-expert teams no prize will be awarded  

• A team may win only one prize. 

• The Director will allocate positional prizes first, starting with first place, then the prizes for the best first and second session, then the non-expert prize.  

Master Point Awards

• District Scale.   

• Points for matches won and drawn. 

• Positional points to the top third of the field

• Master Points will be credited to the EBU at the end of December. 

• Players who are not EBU members can have a certificate sent to them.
