County Pairs Plate for the Chris Burley Trophy

General Information

• Entry is by qualification in the County Pairs heat. 

• No substitutes are allowed except in the Plate at the Event Co-ordinator's discretion

• Cost £12 per pair collected on the day. 

• Held at New Windsor Community Association

• All players should be seated by 1.20 p.m. for a 1.30 p.m. start.  

• There is an automatic penalty of 3VPs for pairs who are not both seated by 1.30 p.m. and have not phoned in advance.

• Players delayed by traffic should phone 07522 015305.  

• Free tea and coffee etc. are provided.  Players should bring their own food for the short break.

• Play is expected to finish about 8.00 p.m.

Permitted Systems and Conventions

•  Level 4 systems and conventions are allowed.

Play

• Seating will be pre-allocated 

• There are expected to be 2 sessions of 22 boards - 44 in all  

• There will be a 20 minute break after session 1. 

• Scoring will be across the field

• The target rate of play is 15 minutes for a 2 board round and 21 for a 3 board round. 

• The Director will take an active role in encouraging pairs who are persistently slow to speed up

• Players will be warned in advance that they will be penalised if they fail to catch up.  If necessary a board which has not been started will be removed.  A board is in play if bidding has started.

Prizes  

• There are no Prizes in the Final but the leading 4 or 5 pairs will be entered in the EBU Corwen  in June.  Entry will be paid by the county but players are responsible for all other expenses.

• The leading two pairs in the Plate will receive free entry to another BBCBA event.

Master Point Awards  

• Final - National Rate.  Leading pairs win green points. Depending on the original field, this is likely to be 4 greens, reducing by 1/2 for each place.

• Plate - Regional Rate. About half the field will receive local points. 

• Master Points will be credited at the end of March
