Ladies’ Pairs, Men’s Pairs

The Ladies’ and Men’s Pairs are held on the same day.

General Information.

Ø      The venue is Windsor .

Ø      Players should be seated by 1.20 to allow us to start promptly at 1.30 pm

Ø      Cost £6 per player.  £3 for Juniors.

Ø      Open to members of B&BCBA

Permitted Systems and Conventions

Ø      This is a level 4 event.

Speed of Play

Ø      Allow 15 minutes for a two board round, 21 for a 3 board round and 28 for a 4 board round.  However as most of the movements are Howells allowance must be made for this.

Ø      With more boards the Director should give warnings when players should be playing their last board.

Ø      The Director should take an active role in encouraging pairs who are persistently slow to speed up.

Ø      Players should be warned in advance that they will be penalised if they fail to catch up.  If necessary, a board which has not been started should be removed.  A board is in play if bidding has started.

Scoring and corrections.

Ø      The aim should be to have scoring completed within 10 minutes of end of play.

Ø      A set of travellers will be produced at the end of each session so that the directors can check for any obvious errors.

Ø      At the end of the 1st session players will be given personal score cards.  Note, match points and percentages are shown by section not combined.  The director will announce how long players have to ask for corrections

Ø      At the end of session 2 a set of personal score cards will be produced but as many players will have gone home the correction period will extend until midnight on the Monday following, or the day following publication of results on the web whichever is the sooner.

Ø      All corrections after the event should be made to the Event Co-ordinator

Ø      Results and prizes will be issued but these are provisional until the end of the correction period

Ø      The correction period is usually midnight on Monday following the event but may be longer if there is a delay publishing results on the web.
